SA HIP HOP SENSATION KING SLIK RELEASES DEBUT EP!!!

After the successful release of his single “SET IT OFF”, young SA Hip Hop sensation KING SLIKreleases debut 8 track EP titled “THE KING’s SPEECH”. It’s a blend of home brewed SA Hip Hop, with an international appeal and impact, that is bound to create a new wave in the music scene.

The EP kicks off with the official single “SET IT OFF” a heart-felt fusion of contemporary R&B and Hip Hop, with a home-brewed South African & global feel. The follow up song “BONNIE & CLYDE” is a Hip Hop love letter featuring Scarab on vocals that will surely have you singing along to the catchy hook. “WAVEY” is a club banger that showcases KING SLIK’s flexibility in delivering high energy verses together with featured artist STUU. Up next is a slower tempo R&B and Trap fused “BEEN THIS WAY” followed by “BAE DRAMA” another club and radio friendly single. KING SLIKassembled a young and talented team of producers (BLASS, SBUDAGAWD, SLUG LUGHO & SPDUBB BEATS) for the project & they without a doubt showed their diverse skills in making the EP sound like a work of art. “THE KING’s SPEECH” closes off with banging tracks “PROBLEM”, “RICH PORTER” & “THE COME UP” which summarise KING SLIK’s aspirations and desires to make his dreams a reality.

“I think ‘THE KING’s SPEECH’ is a wavey introduction to the game for me and people will surely get to vibe to my music in a pure way, with no dilutions. This for me is the best and most honest way to present myself to the masses” – KING SLIK

As The Soweto Take Down Went Down . Now we look to the Takedown Tour

LayLizzy On the Road

As officially announced by Geobek Records on the last day of October that Laylizzy’s next single is set to drop on the 2nd of November 2016, the time has come for Laylizzy to take you ON THE ROAD.

During interviews, Laylizzy always speaks of the significance of versatility as a musician and how he can adapt to pretty much any music in as much as he is described as a hip hop artist. His new single, “On the road” depicts just that.

Produced by KC (who is a young music producer from Mozambique),’On the road’ is a song that outlines issues that arise in relationships with artists that are constantly on the hustle, touring and spending time on the road. Laylizzy is on the road, getting paid, but still needs a loyal girl when he comes back home from his tour.

Giving the fans and supporters of his music the best of both worlds, Laylizzy delivers his lines in both Portuguese and English. Quoting the first verse, “Uuuhhh espera por mim babe… uuuhhh yea eu faco mola por ti babe” which when translated into English simply means, “Wait for me babe… I make money for you babe.”

After hearing this one, it’s entirely up to the ladies now to decide if they’ll be good being Becky with the good hair or if they’ll be the Beyonce.

Jordan 'late show' dropping april 30th

Guests on the Late Show with David Letterman in the 90s typically donned lounge suits for the occasion, but that just ain’t MJ. Maybe it’s because choosing those kinds of threads isn’t his strong suit, or maybe it’s because Nike paid him a lot, or maybe the man is just a born swag lord. Point is, though, His Airness did wear some crazy ass bright red nuclear waste clean-up scrubs/B-Ball training warm-up ensemble over a blue polo shirt when he made his late night television debut, and we loved it. Jordan Brand must have dug it too, because they’re paying tribute to the moment with this new Air Jordan 1. Exquisitely transposing the sheeny tracksuit onto a shoe, red leather dominates the upper with the polo T-shirt tongue poking out through the middle.
The Air Jordan 1 High ‘Late Show’ arrives on April 30 at Jordan retailers, including
Sneaker Politics.

For the love of ink

The ink culture has been existing for over 5 000 years and tattoos have been marks to identify and signify many different things in many different cultures. They also have their share of misunderstanding. From being banned in many work environments, to being deemed socially unacceptable in many parts of the world, With that said tattoos have a very large history and their purpose varied from culture to culture. With all the negative and positive factors around Tattoos they are  still an amazing individual piece of art.

Many tattoos serve as rites of passage, marks of status and rank, symbols of religious and spiritual devotion, decorations for bravery, sexual lures and marks of fertility, pledges of love, punishment, amulets and talismans, protection, and as the marks of outcasts, slaves and convicts. In the Philippines certain tribal groups believe tattoos have magical qualities, and help to protect their bearers. Most traditional tattooing in the Philippines is related to the bearer's accomplishments in life or rank in the tribe.

There are so many reasons why we choose to wear tattoos,  we wear them  for artistic, cosmetic, sentimental/memorial, religious, and magical reasons, and to symbolize our belonging to or identification with particular factions, including criminal gangs or a particular ethnic group or law-abiding subculture. There is a deeper explanation to some tattoos around the world, some Māori still choose to wear intricate moko on their faces. In Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand, the yantra tattoo is used for protection against evil and to increase luck.

There are so many reasons why we put ink on our bodies and some reason are not to be shared with others, but tattoes are now worn as any other accessory one would wear. They are not a call for negative remarks nor are they a call for inappropriate behaivior. We wear them because we love them and in a sense they are a form of expression, which is our basic human right. freedom of expression. So to everyone who is inked take pride in your ink and live life as you please. be free to be inked. for the love of ink.
For real though!!!
The Don.

Time to utilize what we have.

Today I was chilling with the NAETO World mag team and we had a conversation that really unsettled me. A conversation about my township Soweto. Well Soweto,s youth I fear were we are headed. Our youth has gotten used to experting thing done and given for us that when they are here we know not what to do with them.

The biggest township in the world has a lot of facilities but they are not used. Firstly I will talk about swimming facilities, how many swimming pools do we have around Soweto? If you don't know well I'll let you know , there are 8 swimming facilities in soweto. And with that stated how many swimming teams do we have in Soweto? Then we go to the eco parks facilities built all around Soweto. How many are used for their correct purpose? Then there is the Soweto cricket oval. This facility is here for us to use but do we have a cricket league? Or are we still considering it "a white sport" ?

I am only naming a few facilities that are here but are not used to shape our community and the future our kids. We are letting good facilities rot and go beyond repair because we are complaining about not enough funds. But then again who will fund a development project that is non existent. We need to do a lot for ourselves before we look at other people . My main concern here is that we have gotten used to expert things done for us that we do not do anything for ourselves.

I say it us time to start doing the best we can do for ourselves before we can look outside. A better tomorrow will not come for a foreign land but from within us. Its time to support each other and develop each other .

For real though!!!
The Don

Mall of Africa opens on 28 April

Developed on a scale beyond anything the country has known by leading South African property developer and investor Atterbury, the iconic new Mall of Africa is set to open in less than a month, on 28 April 2016.

Southern Africa’s largest single-phase shopping centre development to date, the R5-billion Mall of Africa, is a 130,000sqm super-regional mall that sets a new benchmark for shopping centres on the continent.

Van der Watt adds: “The development has enhanced the diversity of the retail sector in South Africa, changed Gauteng’s skyline and stimulated the economy.”

Youth...

Where have they gone, what really went wrong...

I wake today each day with no job,tax man or any other parental responsibilty.Striving each day to be better than the day that past and to foresee dreams so big for what tomorrow might be, but no I woke up reeking like yesterday with the same 4  friends I have been with for 4 days now.

Isolated as I want a new feeling...my bank balance is in a negative credit with the merchant. Depressed and alone my high has gone and reality says another... I need a fix. A quick plan of negative conversation as we all done and dusted we "google"( and not Microsoft software) the plan is full. Scared to say no because we all need a solution... I sacrifice my moms phone like a war hero saying "I had enough" to my highness friends. I'm in with the guys.. We smoke... We high and for the next 2 hours we sorted... Shared and despair needless to think to what I have done moms wireless and I'm highness on sorrow of fallen tears. I find myself out of stock and broke as Zimbabwe it's the next soldier to lay down the gun and man up. Peer pressure is mounting, I get the gun turned on me to provide this want, need,habit-soldier day dream..."do what  you did to prove you are who you say you are.

I have not been home day 3... Walk in moms crazy as hell...
I argue my way thru moms is mad as hell. I get angry blame my dad for not being there, mom is selfish has dad's money I want my piece of the cut. I decide to go and take some of dad's tool as collateral. Let's get high lotto is in we back at it. And so it goes on till I have taken my heart out and smoked myself to a narrative shell of somebody I used to know.

Mom made a case I'm behind bars begging no friends, strangers that I'm confined to... 8 months  of petty crime to my name.

These are the struggle a lot of parents go thru on a daily basis. Some fortunate others no so lucky... Youths where have you gone... Peer pressure, uneducated on how to do simple math of life, unemployed and seeking attention to fit in where you can get in attitude is the most crippling thing to our youth. Lossing touch of being real has left our kids out of control. Our social circles of today compared to yester year will remain a dream to the youth of today. They live a life faced with dilemmas that they can't solve. We need to take back what is ours... Parents take back you children, brothers be your brothers keeper, sisters your prince needs his princess sister... Communities take back where you live... Our kids the youth of today are spiral so fast and out of control that we can't keep up... Stop that train you have the power to believe in you, family and communities...

Till next time..

As we gear up to give you Naeto World Mag issue 10.
you can watch our chat with the awesome creative brother Monde Dube.

Selfies...

Selfies---It’s a part of our modern culture that we all engage in without any real thought, because, well, everyone else is.But most of the time, we do it so we can post them onto social media and show everyone what we look like at our best, and how we spend our time. There are even trends that we jump on board with for no real reason, like after-sex selfies (literally, selfies taken immediately after sex), couplies (selfies of couples, generally quite smug-looking) and uglies (selfies where you pull a face.)

Selfies have bypassed the standard social norms and barriers of ageism and cool-ism. Teens are obsessed, parents think it’s funny to get involved in the trend, celebrities were made for them. They seem to fit everyone to the point where selfies take up all our social media newsfeeds, but is that such a good thing?

A recent study, says it isn’t,that spending time on Facebook looking at selfies is linked to negative feelings about body image.

It is frightening to see the negative impact that a split-second selfie can have on young women, although on some level, we could have predicted this. Constantly looking at carefully edited photos is bound to have an impact on whoever’s browsing them, and it is not that surprising that it makes women worry more about their own body image.

Why we take them then?

Scientists in this study haven’t answered why we’re taking selfies. We jump on board these trends, and we generally do it without thinking, but when we stop and ask ourselves why we’re actually doing it – what will we find?

I’d say it’s because it’s a fun way to capture a moment with a friends, or to show my friends what I’m doing. But that’s not really true. If I ask myself really honestly, I’d say it’s part of showing everyone it is what I look like (after a bit of Instagramming) and this is how I spend my time.

This creates a false sense of real existence that we as humans engage in... Socially and in reality... It leaves me intrigued on what people think of me and also shows emotion with no substance. Touch has lost its sense of feel and emotions have become words both negative and positive. seeing somebody up real and close is not the same than checking the Facebook update and knowing how you feel... but can that really happen...  So who knows what selfies really do but we trend the hell out of it so we can feel something...

Well till next time...
Krazy Munkey
